Discover Solheim Advisory's Mission, Vision, and Values
Our Identity and Priorities
If you run a service-based business, you already know the problem: QuickBooks wasn’t set up for how you actually work. Your P&L is a mile long and doesn’t reflect your services, your expenses, or your bottom line. Your Balance Sheet is full of accounts you’ve never used and never will. Your project tracking can’t tell you how much each project actually earns. It’s good enough for your CPA, but not good enough for making decisions.
That’s the gap we exist to close. We’re moms and dads who run businesses too, and we’ll build books that finally make sense for yours.
MISSION
At Solheim Advisory, every parent-owned business has a place, whether you’re a solo freelancer or a growing company, in any industry. Our mission is to provide the accounting support these businesses need while growing a community of parents who champion each other’s career, financial, and personal success.
VISION
Solheim Advisory is an accounting firm built for parents, by parents. Our mission is to become the leading provider of accounting and financial services for entrepreneurial parents. We are building a network of high-earning parent business owners who support one another and inspire others to reach their career, financial, and personal goals.
VALUES
Flexibility
We get the work done and we’re great parents. Early risers, nap time warriors, nannies, family help, preschool: we all manage our businesses and families in different ways. What matters is that the work gets done, not when.Personality
We value being whole people with hobbies, interests, and individuality. We can be fully professional and fully ourselves. No office wear required.Innovation
We find new ways to work that save time for our team and our clients. We use AI where it helps, but never as a source of truth. Every transaction is reviewed by a team member. Human first, with AI as a tool.Determination
We prioritize high-quality, detail-oriented work, and we tackle the hard things first.Communication
We know your business moves quickly and you need support fast. Clients can text us around the clock, and emails receive a response within 24 hours. We do not accept phone calls.
The name Solheim comes from Norwegian: sol meaning sun, heim meaning home: and it's not just a name we liked the sound of. Our founders come from Norwegian heritage, and "home" and "sun" are words that carry real weight in that tradition: warmth, shelter, a place you can count on no matter what's happening outside. That's exactly how we want our clients to feel about working with us. Your books are one of the most vulnerable parts of your business, when they're a mess, everything feels harder and less certain. We want Solheim Advisory to be the opposite of that: steady, warm, dependable. A place your business can come home to.
What we're here to do for you:
Set your books up right, from the start. Not a patch job, a foundation built around how your business actually operates.
Keep them genuinely useful, not just "done." Books that are accurate on paper but useless for decision-making aren't finished. We build systems you can actually read and act on.
Set you up for what's next. Clean, reliable books aren't the end goal, they're what let you grow, borrow, sell, or hand the business down with confidence.
This isn't bookkeeping for bookkeeping's sake. It's bookkeeping built by people who've been in the field and in the numbers, for people who need both.
Meet the Team at Solheim Advisory
Emily Miller - Founder, Accountant
Emily brings ten years of hands-on bookkeeping and accounting experience to SB&A, along with a bachelor’s degree, an MBA, and current CPA candidacy. Her work ranges from routine monthly bookkeeping to complex QuickBooks Online cleanups that many bookkeepers decline. Having seen books built well and built poorly, in small operations and layered ones, she knows how to find where a system is breaking down and rebuild it so it holds up. For the parent-owned businesses Solheim serves, that means a clear starting point, a sound structure, and books that support the decisions owners make every day.
Kory Miller - Founder, Accountant
Kory brings three years of hands-on bookkeeping and accounting experience to SB&A with a focus on software companies and nonprofits. He is currently continuing his accounting education at the University of Michigan. Working across both fast-moving software businesses and mission-driven organizations has given him a practical understanding of how different operations track money and where their books tend to go wrong. For the parent-owned businesses Solheim serves, that means careful, reliable work, clear communication, and books owners can trust.
